Phoenix is Rising – Again

Did you miss me? Well, I missed me AND you…giggles

I haven’t been sick for three years, physically that is…mentally, well that is another article…giggles.

However, this super germ that is going around, found me and did a real attachment. I got to practice every kind, type, liquid, modality I know or have known in my lifetime, this time around. So two weeks of loving me and doing nothing but taking care of me has now run the gamete and all that is left is this nagging cough, which just doesn’t want to go away.

I am so grateful for my grounding straps, my structured water device, my diffuser, essential oils, green tea, apple cider/lemon detox drink, zinc lozenges, honey decongestion patches, Echinacea and bone broth. I also found that a real hot cloth placed on my face was pure heaven. I really thought at one point I was going to have to give in and head to the doctor’s office, but I guess my body and spirit heard my thoughts and said..NO, NO we will step in and do a healing.

The structured water device cleared my chest congestion, there is a procedure you can use that for to improve your respiratory system and even improve your heart rhythm. You breathe in thru the spout end and exhale, it worked miracles on clearing my congestion. The diffuser was also amazing I put it by my bed and my chair and diffused night and day with essential oils, the one that seemed to help me the most was tea tree oil.

So this Phoenix has risen again and I am so grateful to feel better and back at the keyboard and blogging…I am sending love and light to all of you and my intention is that you will not get in the path of this bug…it is very powerful.

Organic Non-Toxic Hand Sanitizer

Everywhere there are hand sanitizer wipes in the stores, doctor offices, schools and the list goes on and on. Then in the stores there are shelves of bottles of hand sanitizers and wipes, the tv and radio is full of ads to encourage the use of these products for our well being and to keep germ free…this all sounds really good…UNTIL…you start reading the labels and doing research what is in and on these products. They are in fact more damaging than the germs they are suppose to be getting rid of.

As always, I don’t just give you the disadvantage of products, but also the solution. There is a solution and that is to make your own hand sanitizer which is healthy and actually benefits your health and body… AND… gets rid of the germs.

Below you will find two recipes for hand sanitizer; you can try one and/or both and see which one is most convenient for your family. What is so great about the ingredients in the recipes is that they aren’t good for just cleaning but are antiseptic and can help with cuts and scrapes as well.

The essential oils are also good anti-bacterial and anti-fungal for use on the body and the Witch Hazel is also an anti-inflammatory and anti-microbial which can treat itches, bruises, bites and other skin irritations. Aloe Vera gel is very healing to the skin along with the Vitamin E oil, which is also a preservative to the recipe.

As always…my disclaimer…only use organic products and therapeutic grade essential oils…this is very important.

So before you wipe your precious babies face and hands with handi wipes, OR even yours, do yourself a favor and go organic and healthy…make your own…you may even find you save a few dollars…have fun!!!!!

Gel Hand Sanitizer


1 Tablespoon Witch Hazel
8 ounces 100% pure Aloe Vera gel
1/4 teaspoon Vitamin E oil
10 drops Tea Tree essential oil
5 drops Lavender essential oil

Mix together the essential oils and the Vitamin E in a container.
Add Witch Hazel and mix.
Add this mixture to the Aloe Vera gel and mix.
Shake well before each use.

This gel sanitizer should last a few months as the Vitamin E oil acts as a natural preservative. To help prolong the life of this blend, either re-use a squeezable or pump-top bottle or use a clean spoon to apply it straight out of a glass jar, rather than putting your dirty fingers into the mix each time you use it.

Spray Hand Sanitizer


1 Tablespoon Witch Hazel
2 Teaspoons 100% pure Aloe Vera Gel (you can also use vegetable glycerin)
8 drops of Vitamin E oil
Essential Oils (Lavender, Tea Tree, or try Lemon, Lime, Orange etc.)
Clean Water

Combine together the witch hazel, aloe vera gel, Vitamin E oil, and essential oils.
Pour into a small spray bottle.
Add enough clean water to fill bottle.
Shake well

For this recipe you will need a 4 oz (120 ml) glass spray bottle, or similar. It is best not to use plastic as it may react with the essential oils.

Reflexology Points on Your Hand

Usually we can find instructions on how to do reflexology on your feet, so when i found this extensive map of body organs and systems in and on the hand, needless to say i was very excited.

I am also including a reflexology map for the feet also; what i like to do is apply essential oils on reflexology points for discomfort, pain and other issues so now you can hit those points on your hands, which can be much easier than on your feet…enjoy and help your holiday stress with essential oils and reflexology.

What About Oregano Essential Oil

Oregano oil is one of the oils that you will want to have in your first aid kit, it is a good antibiotic; it relieves MRSA, and fights all kinds of infections. I know sometimes I sound like a broken record, but here it goes…when you work with therapeutic grade essentials oils there isn’t any side effects like when you use medical forms of treatments, have you ever listened to the possible side effects on the ads that are on the TV, the side effects are worse sometimes then the condition they are suppose cure. Essential oils work WITH your body to heal the conditions. Here is a short list of conditions you can use oregano oil for:

Warts and skin tags: Dab twice daily, morning and night to the affected area. Keep at it and within a few weeks, the warts will shrink appreciably and the skin tags will fall off. Make a mixture of half oregano oil and half fractionated coconut oil to a roller bottle and dab twice daily until they are gone.

DIY Hand Sanitizer: Combine 10 drops of oregano oil with two tablespoons of coconut oil. Rub it into your hands as a natural hand sanitizer. You would think the hand sanitizer would be healthy, but it isn’t they are full of toxins. You can make your own and it will be healthy for you, you can put in a roller bottle or small spray bottle, be sure and dilute with a carrier oil like fractionated coconut oil.

Natural Insect Repellent: Mix a few drops in a carrier oil and rub over your skin to repel insects. You can also mix oregano oil with water in a spray bottle to create your own insect spray. Be sure to shake it up before using since the oil will separate a bit in the water.

Control Itching: Apply diluted oregano oil to insect bites and skin rashes to relieve itching.

Sickness and Flu: Diffuse Oregano essential oil in your favorite diffuser to help quickly get rid of the flu or any other sickness.

Sinus infections and colds: Place a few drops of oregano oil in a pot of steaming water or diffuser. Carefully inhale the steam, being careful not to get burned. You can also dilute in carrier oil then place under the nostrils to provide additional relieve for sinus infections.

Arthritis: Dilute in a carrier oil and rub onto painful joints to decrease swelling.

Dandruff: Add a few drops to your regular shampoo being mindful to keep the shampoo and oregano oil out of your eyes.

Eczema: Control eczema by blending oregano oil with carrier oil and applying topically.

Athlete’s foot: Dilute in a carrier oil and apply directly 2-3 times a day. You can also add a few drops to baking soda to sprinkle inside your shoes for added protection.

Nail Fungus: Soak hands or feet in a basin of water with a few teaspoons of oregano oil added. You can also rub diluted oil (1 drop of oil in a teaspoon of carrier oil) directly onto your nails. Once again this is the healthy way to treat nail fungus, it is applied directly to the area, the prescriptions the medical community gives you is taken orally and it goes thru out your body and ruins good antibodies not just where you want it.

Relieve Sore Muscles: Dilute in carrier oil or lotion then gently massage on the affected area. Repeat up to three times a day.

Congestion: Dilute in your favorite carrier oil or lotion and apply to the chest area. For nasal congestion, try adding one or two drops of oregano essential oil on a clean handkerchief and inhale the vapor. You can also just take the bottle and inhale it.

Treat Parasites: Combine 1 drop of Oregano oil with 1 drop of a carrier oil. Place under the tongue and hold it for a few minutes before rinsing the mouth with water. Repeat up to four times a day.

Acne: Dip a Q-tip into the oil and apply directly to zits aka acne. The oil will kill the bacteria and reduce the inflammation. For the very best results, do this twice a day morning and night immediately after washing your face.

Ringworm: To kill ringworm, apply 3 to 6 drops of oregano oil to the effected area.

Skin Infections: Dilute in coconut oil and apply topically to boost the healing of skin infections.

Cleaning Supplies: Add a few drops to your DIY cleaning supplies to give them an antiseptic and disinfectant boost. This is especially effective in the kitchen and in the bathroom. You can add lemon to this to add a clean scent to your cleaning.

Laundry: Add a few drops to your load of laundry to kill bacteria or parasites and also to leave your clothes smelling nice and fresh.

Fungus and Mold: Mix with water and spray the shower to prevent fungus and mold from growing. This also works in other warm, humid areas of your home.

Oregano oil is considered a hot oil. What this means is that it can burn or cause some irritation when used undiluted. Other hot oils include cinnamon or clove oil. When using Oregano oil undiluted apply carefully with a Q-tip and do not spread it beyond the affected area. For most applications, my recommendation is that it should be diluted for all but spot treatments such as warts and skin tags, also acne.

One more thing, the therapeutic use of oregano oil should be avoided in infants and children, and pregnant or nursing women. That is not to say that something bad will happen but to be safe, the use of oregano oil should be avoided without first consulting with a qualified medical professional or holistic practitioner, someone that is educated in essential oils.

Now you can see why I suggest that you get this oil for your first aid kit, it is a great antibiotic for many uses and it is healthy for the whole family, just be sure and dilute it good for the younger children in the family, a little goes a long way.

Inhale Essential Oils for Health Issues

A picture is worth a thousand words…so I am going to let it talk it’s magic…the only thing I am going to add to this is my usual precursor…when purchasing essential oils be sure and only purchase therapeutic grade oils.

Rosemary is known as an amazing herb that has many purposes. Alternative medicine has been using its leaves for centuries.

Research has found rosemary to contain carnosic acid, which fights off free radical damage to the brain. The natural acids in rosemary aid in protecting the body’s cells and DNA from free radical damage.

Several tests were done with rosemary essential oil, and they found that the oil increased the chances of remembering future tasks by 60 – 75%, when compared to people who weren’t exposed to the oil.

It is said that individuals who inhaled rosemary extract before performing certain tasks, tested more positive with stress levels, mood, speed and accuracy.

Modern-day herbal medicine uses it as a mild painkiller, and for migraines and digestive problems, the following are more issues that are improved by the use of Rosemary Essential Oil.

Essential Oils and Air Freshners

Everywhere we turn in our environment it is full of toxins and chemicals, and it is our job to become familiar with all of these unnecessary ingredients that are part of our life, the question is…why not make your own out of natural healthy ingredients…like air fresheners and sprays, yes…the ones bought commercially are full of toxins and chemicals.

Here is the recipe for one:

5 drops of Orange Essential Oil
3 drops of Ginger Essential Oil
4 to 6 ounces of Water
Add all ingredients into a spray bottle and shake well.

You can also use this same essential oil combination in other things like hand cream/body lotion that is unscented or with complimentary scents with ginger and orange.

The advantages of Ginger is that it is warm and energizing, just smelling it can ease an upset stomach, nausea, motion sickness and morning sickness. It is also known to sooth arthritis and other physical discomforts.

The advantages of Orange is that it is uplifting and cheery, it makes a great tonic and boosts the immune and lymphatic systems, can help acne and oily skin.

So the air freshener can do so much more that just freshen the odor of a space, and without damaging chemicals to effect humans and/or pets.

It is getting close to the gift giving holidays and this would be a nice gift for male, female even young people possibly in college at the dorm, or office gifts…get some decorative glass spray bottles and make some creative decorative tags with string, ribbon etc…the ideas are endless and it could introduce someone you care about to the advantages of using essential oils and the new healthy side of living.

Fall and Winter Energy Boost

It is that time of the year when we need that boost energy as the sun doesn’t shine as much and so our batteries can get run down…to the rescue is our essential oils…YEA!!!! Simple and easy, no highs and then drops to the lows…just even with a healthy boost.

Take your orange and peppermint essential oils and put them in a diffuser, you only need a couple drops of each and let the diffuser run for 30 minutes or so, my diffuser is automatic and goes for four hours…and that works for me as I don’t have to remember to turn it off.

Out and about and the slump hits, have a mixture in your purse and/or pocket to roll on inhale, or you can even just have the bottles with you and inhale each bottle, instant get up and go, and I find it even clears my head of those afternoon foggies I get some time.

Just so you know what you are sniffing, here is what benefits each oil has, of course there are other benefits of both of them, but we are talking about an energy boost here…giggle

Wild Orange: Is known to be beneficial to the mind and emotions and can elevate both, to where you have the feeling of well being, it can boost your creativity and improve your mental clarity.

Peppermint: Can create a soothing feeling, which gives a crisp awake feeling, it is from the menthol family of plants and can release many kinds of discomforts, such as stress, depression, mental exhaustion, anxiety to name a few.

With these two mixed together they can give you that boost you need anytime and anywhere, just for inhaling and you are good to go.
This has nothing to do with essential oils, but another thing I found to do a quick “wake-up” is to pull on your earlobe a couple times and it will tend to bring you around to more awake…have fun!!!!

Cinnamon is Not Only a Spice, See What the Oil Can Do

When I woke up this morning, I took a deep breath in and it had the smell of Fall, I don’t really know how to describe that smell, but I am sure you know what I am talking about.

With Fall comes all those favorite Fall aromas of cinnamon, nutmeg, pumpkin and molasses; the one I want to talk about today is cinnamon and specifically cinnamon essential oil.

Also with the change of seasons to fall and winter comes allergies and colds, and cinnamon is very effective to combat these issues, you can diffuse a few drops and cleanse the air and get relief from many issues…I have some listed below.

Cinnamon comes from tropical evergreen tree; the oil is extracted from the bark and contains strong cleansing and immune properties.

Always dilute the oil with fractionated coconut oil when applying to the skin.

Cinnamon is very purifying to the circulatory system and it helps promote circulation when applied to the skin, helping to ease sore muscles and joints. Cinnamon helps maintain a healthy immune system, especially when seasonal threats are high. When diffused, Cinnamon promotes clear breathing while purifying the air.

11 Important Things to Know About Using Essential Oils

Essential oils can be your new medicine cabinet, however, there are some cautions and things you should know about them so that you don’t rush into the self care mode and not know what you are doing, here is a partial list of things you may not know about the oils and it is best that you do know, read these over and become familiar with them, if ever in doubt google your question and do some research on your questions.


1) Most applications topically should be diluted with a carrier oil, my preference for most applications is fractionated organic coconut oil (therapeutic grade).

2) Give the applications of the oils time to work, sometimes it may take several days, even a month or so to see results.

3) Do not ever use essential oils in the eyes, in the event of accidental contact with the eye, dilute with a vegetable oil NOT water.

4) Do not ever put directly inside the ear canal, put the oil on a cotton swab and place it in the ear, remember just a little works, don’t saturate the cotton swab, just a drop will work, you can put tape over it to keep it in the ear.

5) Do not put in open wounds.

6) Keep essential oils away from open flames as they are flammable.

7) Always purchase therapeutic grade essential oils, it needs to say it on the label.

8) It is also recommended that oils be stored in a cool place away from direct sunlight. Improper storage may lead to evaporation and reduced shelf-life.

9) Hot Oils are essential oils that may cause a burning sensation when applied to the skin. They should be diluted and use caution when applying. Some hot oils include basil, oregano, thyme, and to a lesser extent, citrus and mint families.

10) Some essential oils can cause irritation to the skin if it is exposed to sunlight after application. To prevent this, you may need to stay out direct sunlight for several hours (up to a day) after applying specific oils. Bergamot, Cumin, Grapefruit, and Lime

11) Essential oils can be inhaled and be as effective, I inhale each oil three times and depending on the condition, I do it two or three times a day and/or until the condition has subsided.
