Salt is Not Just For Flavoring

I don’t use table salt for seasoning my foods, and haven’t for many year; what I use is Himalayan Pink Salt as it has beneficial minerals in it that makes it actually healthy for you to eat.

I also have salt lamps which decrease the toxic electronic energies given off by your tv, computer, and even some lights, the lamps also keep the energy up which makes the atmosphere in your house cleaner and clearer.

Ok, back to other uses for salt, which there are many, but the one I am going to tell you about today is unclogging your drains. You make a mixture of regular table salt, regular baking soda and white vinegar; I mix the salt and baking soda together…pour it down the drain and then pour the white vinegar down the drain…it is going to fizz and bubble, which is a good thing AND there is nothing toxic you are going to breath in or get on anything.

Let this sit in the drain for about 15 minutes and then heat some water to boiling and pour it down the drain and bingo…it clears the drain perfectly. I just did this the other day and loved it.

What I really like about this is that there is nothing toxic for you and/or going down the drain to cause toxic waste in our sewer or water systems. Also, you will have the chance of breathing in toxic fumes or get toxins on your hands and the area round the drain you are clearing…also the disposal of the toxic drain cleaner container.

I am not giving you a definite recipe of the ingredients as I think it depends on how clogged it is, I used ½ cup of salt, ½ cup of soda and about a cup of vinegar, about 2 cups of boiling water.

Let’s Talk About the Dates on Egg Cartons

I found this article on codes for the dates of the freshness for the eggs in the carton you purchase in the grocery store…the article is very good and also the blog has tons of great info so I am going to give you the link to it so you can check it out and maybe learn more info about fresh eggs and maybe even a small hen house in your own yard.

I am a real advocate of reading labels and knowing what is in my food, as I use food as medicine not just nourishment, it does take time and research but I feel so much better when I eat organic, local and non-GMO foods. Here are some pointers to know about:

Know what organic is and what foods can be considered organic; this does mean that sometimes you need to call the company ask questions and/or email them; definitely it is worth a trip to their website, see what kind of info they have and then when you call/email ask questions about some of their statements.  If they don’t say anything about organic and non-GMO you can count on them not having that part their products, they will not be organic etc.

Don’t trust the large food sources for what they say…do your research

Local foods resonate with your body better than out sourced foods, one of the exceptions of this is wheat…90% of the wheat, soy and other grains in the US is GMO and roundup toxic…ALL of the large food corporations of the US use these ingredients in their products…READ LABELS and do research.

If you have any questions about any specific item/product I will be happy to tell you what I know about them/it and/or do some research for you, I am just hitting the tip of the iceberg so to speak when i write these articles, I have done lots of research on products etc, so don’t hesitate to ask me.

I only purchase Omega-3 cage free eggs with no hormones etc., but even then the farm fresh ones are better, all we can do is the best we can do, it would be great to be able to have farm fresh….maybe soon….soon has turned into my favorite four letter word….giggles

A Healthy Gut and More

Here it is the 22nd of January and just now I am creating an energy space in writing something personal…from my AA birthday to after my belly button birthday which is in January it is always a review time in my life for me.  So here I am back at the keyboard on a personal level…I did get a few posts out and kept up pretty much with contacts here on the blog…2016 is the best year yet…giggles

I always like to review my health plan every six months or so, as i use food as medicine in my life and I like to pay close attention to how my current plan is working for me and see if I could make some adjustments…my attention was drawn to probiotics and so started my research on that area…

Before adding probiotics to your shopping list this is what I found out and why now I am eating sauerkraut every day…

Here is some info I found out…

2oz of non pasteurized sauerkraut has more probiotics than 100 probiotic capsules

4-6oz of sauerkraut has 10 trillion bacteria, which is a good thing

Homemade kraut is the best, however you can buy readymade if you are prudent in making sure it is organic and not heated…heating destroys the probiotics

Fresh artesian water should be used and sea salt…no vinegar or heat

I save the liquid and I like to drink it a little each day or so.

In my area, Southern California, I found Bubbies and it is in the refrigerated deli case

In The Gluten Summit, 2013, Dr. Natasha Campbell-McBride, MD, told Dr. Tom O’Bryan, ““With every mouthful of sauerkraut you’re consuming billions of beneficial microbes which will be killing the pathogens in your gut driving them out and replenishing the beneficial flora in your digestive tract.”

Cabbage is high in anti-inflammatory properties, vitamins A and C. Cabbage also reduces lipids in the bloodstream. When cabbage is fermented into sauerkraut the fermentation process opens up the cell walls accessing a higher ratio of vitamins. It has been said that sauerkraut has 200 times more vitamin C than the head of cabbage before fermentation.

I divide the kraut into 1-2oz servings and eat one a day, you can heat it then if you like, I like mine cold…the kraut comes in glass jars and should remain in glass containers, again to preserve the probiotic properties.

Just following these simple instructions I have noticed a reduction in body swelling and a general all over good feeling, I am very pleased with the results. My gut area has reduced some and my digestive system seems to be liking my new treat to it…giggles

I have finally made the complete switch to organic fruits and veggies; and grass fed for farm animal products, my budget required an ease in process and so that process is now complete.

I made a organic, gluten free pumpkin bread for my birthday present to me and it was/is delicious, a Christmas present to me was a toaster oven and I love, love it, so now in my spiritual space of 8×10 I have a rice cooker, electric fry pan and a toaster oven…can life get any better than this…I don’t think so….giggles

Non-toxic Oven Cleaner

Our ovens have had a real workout during the holiday season. Between all the baking we had to do for Thanksgiving and Christmas, plus with the cooler weather our minds and bodies are turning to hot dishes as the cold weather inspires us to cook for dinners and all of this gives our ovens a real busy schedule of baking.

Cleaning our ovens is one of those jobs that we really rather not do, and it is usually put off until it just really has to be done.

Even the self cleaning ovens don’t always do a really good job of cleaning and so you still have to get in there and clean some more.

Then there is the preparation to reduce the toxic fumes and protecting the floor, cabinets etc etc…let alone protecting ourselves and the right timing so family members won’t be hurt by the fumes etc.

Well there is a much healthier way and it works just as good if not better than those brash cleansers anyway. AND it only takes about 15-30 minutes without much scrubbing if any.

Mix a quarter cup of baking soda (for this you can use arm and hammer baking soda) with water to create a paste. Cover the complete inside of your oven including the glass and door. If you have large oven and/or double ovens, double or triple the recipe.

Leave it on for 15-30 minutes or until it looks like the residue has lifted off the metal surface and your white paste has turned a dingy brown instead. Then just wipe away the mixture and all your stains should be gone!

If there are any remaining spots left, a quick once over with a scouring sponge should take care of them in no time. No rubber gloves or face mask needed, just a nice clean oven for 2016…happy cleaning

Another Organic Flu Prevention Technique That Really Works

The bottom of the feet have meridians, the feet have a potent and direct access point to the internal body organs. The meridians are thought to be the passageways to all body organs. There are numerous and various nerve endings in the bottom of the feet that are directly connected to various organs in the body which is known to be about 7,000 meridians.

One of the best methods that open these electrical passageways, or meridians, and that cleanse the internal organs without any toxic medications or change in the diet is cutting up onions or garlic and placing them in socks (at the bottom part of the feet) during the night while sleeping.

Onion and garlic are vegetables that are popular for their air purifying properties. They are also effective in killing bacteria and germs when applied to the skin, topically. Moreover, the phosphoric acid which the onions contain and which is responsible for the tears during the process of onion chopping or cutting gets into the bloodstream and cleanses the blood and kills the bacteria and the germs that may be festering and waiting to give you the flu.

The ingredients that you will need for this treatment are plastic wrap like saran wrap, warm socks and onion. Slice the onion into thin pieces and wait until its juice appear, which is going to take about a few minutes. Then, take the onion pieces and place them on your feet and then wrap them tightly with the plastic wrap and put on the socks over it.

The best socks to use are the woolen socks since they are the warmest, however, I don’t have woolen socks so I just use regular socks that fit my feet snugly. The plastic wrap is used to hold the onions compactly to your feet and it also keeps the odor of the onion not to permeate the bed/room. If your skin is sensitive, add some oily cream or some natural oil to the onion, this was/is not a problem with me, but some people tend to be skin sensitive, and if that is an issue with you, this is how you would resolve it. This treatment is supposed to be done in the evening, before going to bed, so that the onions can work during the night.

During this time, the nutrient ingredients found in the onion will get through the skin into the bloodstream and will provide numerous heath benefits to your body, such as blood purifying, preventing colds and other bacterial and viral infections, improving of the blood circulation and getting rid of the toxins from the body. In the morning discard the onions and use fresh ones the next night, as your toxins will be absorbed into the onions.

If you want to get the best results, then you should use homegrown onion and/or organic, since it is abundant in active compounds known as lachrymators. I use white onions as I have been told those are the best for this procedure, I can’t give you the reason, but that is what I use and it has always worked. The health benefits of onion depend on the amount of lachrymators. After you wake up, you should remove the onion bandage and then wash your feet using cold water.

Once you have done this, put on the woolen socks and warm your feet. This is a great method for improving the blood circulation, particularly for people who have troubles with bad blood circulation and diabetes. Furthermore, not only people with health issues should do this treatment, but those who are healthy should do it too. That is why it is always recommended, especially when you deal with flu, cold, fever, throat or lung issues, it is completely natural and extremely beneficial.

Another thing I do is take a white onion and cut the top off, just a little and place it in a bowl and place the bowl in and around the house, this will absorb the germs and toxins in your home, office etc. You will find that you reduce your times of getting ill. If the smell bothers you, just having the onion in your rooms will also work, you will know when it is time to replace them as they will turn blackish.  To your new year health…

I love avocados and I eat them on a weekly basis, they are part of my eating programs…with that said I read the other day that there are several other benefits that avocados provide than a great nutritious food.

The seed has huge health benefits also, the seed is a great source of bioactive phytochemicals. It contains fatty acids, triterpenes, phytosterols, and glucosides from abscisic acid. The avocado seed also contains 70% of the avocado’s antioxidant content. The antioxidant phytochemicals in avocado seeds include proanthocyanidins and flavonols. The avocado seed is also considered one of the best sources of soluble fiber. In a 2013 study published in the Scientific World Journal, researchers concluded that avocado seed extract was safe and it did not show any toxicity.

Baking Soda
Maple Syrup

Directions:

Combine 1 teaspoon of Baking Soda for every 1 tablespoon of Maple syrup. Because there are 3 teaspoons in 1 tablespoon, the ratio used is 1 part baking soda to 3 parts maple syrup. For example, mix 4 tsp. baking soda with 4 tbs. maple syrup. This should be enough for a week. When you mix these 2 ingredients, cook the mixture on low heat for 5-10 minutes. Do not refrigerate this mixture.

Use:

Take 1 tsp. of this mixture 1-3 times per day, for a maximum 1 to 2 month. Don’t take this mixture too close to mealtimes. During this therapy you need to change your diet. You need to decrease the meat intake, and no sugar or white flour.

I have some further instructions for the ingredients and use;

Baking soda needs to be organic and aluminum free, the brand I use is Red Hill.

Maple Syrup needs to be organic and Grade B, not your Aunt Jemima type of syrup you find in your usual grocery store, and it needs to have the Grade B on the label not just “all natural”.

Do not heat the mixture in aluminum cookware or nonstick, it should be glass or stainless steel.

When storing it, the container needs to be glass with a lid that closes tightly.

Why I didn’t include honey on this recipe information is because the maple syrup ingredient is usually easier to find, however, you can use honey in place of the maple syrup…HOWEVER…these are the stipulations if you use honey…it needs to be raw preferably with some pollen in it…it needs to be from your local area, within a 100 mile radius…it needs to be organic and processed without any heat…it would be best to purchased direct from the bee keeper and/or someone who knows them.

Are All Salts Equal…NO…The Best is Himalayan Pink Salt

Here is one of the reasons… Himalayan salt has less sodium than table salt and it is naturally rich in iodine, so it is not artificially added in. The many hues of pink, red and white are an indication of this salt’s rich and varying mineral and energy-rich iron content.

Himalayan salt is mineral packed crystals which formed naturally within the earth made up of 85.62% sodium chloride and 14.38% other trace minerals including: sulfate, magnesium, calcium, potassium, bicarbonate, bromide, borate, and strontium; and it is further stated that this pink salt packs a hearty 80+ more minerals and elements in their pretty pink package.

Studies have shown that for each gram of table salt that is consumed that the body cannot process, your body will use 20 TIMES the amount of cellular water to neutralize the amount of sodium chloride that is present in this chemically treated salt.

Finally, the iodine that is added into salt is usually synthetic which is difficult for your body to process properly. Shockingly under U.S. law, up to 2% of table salt can be additives. This is large in part of how salt has gotten such a bad name. It is not necessarily salt that is unhealthy for us, it is refined table salt that is inferior for our health.

Apple Cider Vinegar the Miracle Health Tonic

What can apple cider vinegar do, really the question could be, what can’t it do. You can use it for cleaning, gardening, health hygiene, diseases…the list goes on.

What makes apple cider vinegar so beneficial it has healing compounds which include acetic acid, potassium, magnesium, probiotics and enzymes. These compounds can kill head lice, ease digestion, prevent flu, prevent acne, reduce inflammation, kill fungus, regulate pH balance, dissolve kidney stones and helps relieve allergies, migraines, asthma, nausea, heart burn and wash toxins from the body.

I was told several years ago that I was borderline diabetic and my father was a full blown diabetic, so I have taken health precautions so I don’t follow in his footsteps, and it has worked, I have eliminated that condition by eating correctly and using food as medicine.
