How Our Wounds Can Heal Us
Posted by Nick Polizzi

“The wound is the place where the Light enters you.” ― Rumi

Every one of us has a shadow aspect; the dark and unhealed part of ourselves that we would rather not see, let alone address. However, at some point in our lives, we may be forced to look at those places buried within us that we fear most.

Nothing brings up our shadow like a good old-fashioned personal crisis. Whether it’s a physical illness or an unexpected intrapersonal challenge, we all have a choice. We can either reject the jolting revelation of our shadow side, or we can reframe it as a catalyst for achieving a balanced life.

Consider this radical notion: what is “wrong” can also be medicine in and of itself.

We typically regard crisis as something negative, to be avoided or fought. Yet many non-Western cultures see it differently. Since ancient times, people in the Amazon have regarded dis-ease as the mother of healing, pregnant with opportunities for us to evolve, embrace the sacred, and choose the spirit path to wellness.

They believe that diseases are the messengers of Mother Nature, sent to humanity as teachers that can bring us closer to nature and back to and into our source, or center. The shamans work with disease, not against it, listening for a specific message the illness is trying to relate to the patient: What is it that must be confronted, changed, or healed on an emotional or spiritual level?

Once these underlying wounds are acknowledged, something remarkable happens to the patient. In the words of shaman Roman Hanis, “When the individual has learned the deep lessons their disease has to teach them, they are re-birthed into a new, higher-evolved life.”

Opportunities for Relief and Growth Abound

The essence of this sacred interpretation can be applied to our everyday lives as well. Upon waking, you can either see the day in front of you as a buffet table loaded with painful and pleasurable experiences, or you can look at every encounter as spiritual training – with the goal being to become more clear and resourceful in the moment.

Here’s a little secret: children are amazing barometers of how we adults are operating. After all, they haven’t been “conditioned” by growing up – so they’re intuitive masters.

When my mighty three-year-old son, River, comes into the room and asks me a question, he immediately knows whether or not I’m giving him my full attention. He sees straight through any clouds of distraction and does whatever it takes to shake me back into the present moment.

On the flip side, when I am completely engaged in our interaction, River and I experience a fluid dance of souls. As we whirl, he teaches me things with his words and gestures that are too deeply gratifying to express.

Is it possible for us to tango with crisis and pain in the same way we would with a loved one? Seems kind of absurd at first, but the masters see the good and the bad, the light and the dark, the joyous and the terrifying as two sides of the same coin. They aren’t tempted by the fleeting comforts of the “good” nor are they rattled by the shadows that can sometimes be found in the “bad”.

Once we get past their foreboding exterior, we begin to see pain and crisis as something far more sacred than we ever knew. A shaman might call them a catalyst for spiritual evolution.

Answer this question honestly: Is there a point of pain or stress in your life right now that is actually a misunderstood doorway to your more evolved self?

There sure are a few in mine. 🙂

Stay curious,

Easter = Spring Has Sprung

easter

I have been sort of missing in action lately and I would like to say that will improve but I can’t, as I have been very busy in some consulting projects and there doesn’t seem to be enough minutes in the days…

I am also giving it some thought to expand and do a little revamping of the blog in the near future, of course when I find the time….:) The name and how to find me will all remain the same, but I will add some new topics of interest…well of my interest, which I am intending will be of yours also.

I love spring, all the pastel colors, all the flowers are in the stores, my favorites being orchids and star gazer lilies, but love to just look at the others with their beautiful spring colors. The air is fresh and here California we have more rain and showers, which I like to call liquid gold, when I was living in Washington I called rain a pain in the ***, as there was just too much of it….:)

I am wishing you all a very Blessed Easter and Gorgeous Spring, enjoy every minute of it as you just can’t get those minutes back…love everyone you meet and greet them with a smile, you never know when someone really, really needs one. Be good to yourself and everyone, there are rewards for that, so give freely every day.

Much love and light

Transition Is Really Being Closer

david2

It has been a year since my soul mate left this plane and found his peace watching over me from the “higher” space.

So many times we think/feel that when they aren’t here physically that we have lost them, and I am here to tell you that actually that is not true at all…we are even closer, just in different ways and energy.

My biggest adjustment was filling my time up that was spent with him here on earth, and as I know how to do from all of the personal work I have done…I start a new health regime and taking really good care of me…this blog was created and that filled my days and those empty spaces he left behind.

I feel him close and things happen in my life that I know he has something to do with, as only he knew they would make me happy and/or want them. When he visits it is a really a soft loving energy and I know without a doubt it is him.

On his memory space in my room I keep orchids for him and his lucky bamboo plant that I brought here from his place…his memory lives on and keeps me centered and in love…

One year and many more to go until….

Salt is Not Just For Flavoring

salt1

I don’t use table salt for seasoning my foods, and haven’t for many year; what I use is Himalayan Pink Salt as it has beneficial minerals in it that makes it actually healthy for you to eat.

I also have salt lamps which decrease the toxic electronic energies given off by your tv, computer, and even some lights, the lamps also keep the energy up which makes the atmosphere in your house cleaner and clearer.

Ok, back to other uses for salt, which there are many, but the one I am going to tell you about today is unclogging your drains. You make a mixture of regular table salt, regular baking soda and white vinegar; I mix the salt and baking soda together…pour it down the drain and then pour the white vinegar down the drain…it is going to fizz and bubble, which is a good thing AND there is nothing toxic you are going to breath in or get on anything.

Let this sit in the drain for about 15 minutes and then heat some water to boiling and pour it down the drain and bingo…it clears the drain perfectly. I just did this the other day and loved it.

What I really like about this is that there is nothing toxic for you and/or going down the drain to cause toxic waste in our sewer or water systems. Also, you will have the chance of breathing in toxic fumes or get toxins on your hands and the area round the drain you are clearing…also the disposal of the toxic drain cleaner container.

I am not giving you a definite recipe of the ingredients as I think it depends on how clogged it is, I used ½ cup of salt, ½ cup of soda and about a cup of vinegar, about 2 cups of boiling water.

If you try this let me know how it worked for you….love reports back…

Phoenix is Rising – Again

Did you miss me? Well, I missed me AND you…giggles

I haven’t been sick for three years, physically that is…mentally, well that is another article…giggles.

However, this super germ that is going around, found me and did a real attachment. I got to practice every kind, type, liquid, modality I know or have known in my lifetime, this time around. So two weeks of loving me and doing nothing but taking care of me has now run the gamete and all that is left is this nagging cough, which just doesn’t want to go away.

I am so grateful for my grounding straps, my structured water device, my diffuser, essential oils, green tea, apple cider/lemon detox drink, zinc lozenges, honey decongestion patches, Echinacea and bone broth. I also found that a real hot cloth placed on my face was pure heaven. I really thought at one point I was going to have to give in and head to the doctor’s office, but I guess my body and spirit heard my thoughts and said..NO, NO we will step in and do a healing.

The structured water device cleared my chest congestion, there is a procedure you can use that for to improve your respiratory system and even improve your heart rhythm. You breathe in thru the spout end and exhale, it worked miracles on clearing my congestion. The diffuser was also amazing I put it by my bed and my chair and diffused night and day with essential oils, the one that seemed to help me the most was tea tree oil.

So this Phoenix has risen again and I am so grateful to feel better and back at the keyboard and blogging…I am sending love and light to all of you and my intention is that you will not get in the path of this bug…it is very powerful.

Organic Non-Toxic Hand Sanitizer

hand sanitizer

Everywhere there are hand sanitizer wipes in the stores, doctor offices, schools and the list goes on and on. Then in the stores there are shelves of bottles of hand sanitizers and wipes, the tv and radio is full of ads to encourage the use of these products for our well being and to keep germ free…this all sounds really good…UNTIL…you start reading the labels and doing research what is in and on these products. They are in fact more damaging than the germs they are suppose to be getting rid of.

As always, I don’t just give you the disadvantage of products, but also the solution. There is a solution and that is to make your own hand sanitizer which is healthy and actually benefits your health and body… AND… gets rid of the germs.

Below you will find two recipes for hand sanitizer; you can try one and/or both and see which one is most convenient for your family. What is so great about the ingredients in the recipes is that they aren’t good for just cleaning but are antiseptic and can help with cuts and scrapes as well.

The essential oils are also good anti-bacterial and anti-fungal for use on the body and the Witch Hazel is also an anti-inflammatory and anti-microbial which can treat itches, bruises, bites and other skin irritations. Aloe Vera gel is very healing to the skin along with the Vitamin E oil, which is also a preservative to the recipe.

As always…my disclaimer…only use organic products and therapeutic grade essential oils…this is very important.

So before you wipe your precious babies face and hands with handi wipes, OR even yours, do yourself a favor and go organic and healthy…make your own…you may even find you save a few dollars…have fun!!!!!

Gel Hand Sanitizer

Ingredients:

1 Tablespoon Witch Hazel
8 ounces 100% pure Aloe Vera gel
1/4 teaspoon Vitamin E oil
10 drops Tea Tree essential oil
5 drops Lavender essential oil
Directions:

Mix together the essential oils and the Vitamin E in a container.
Add Witch Hazel and mix.
Add this mixture to the Aloe Vera gel and mix.
Shake well before each use.
Storage:

This gel sanitizer should last a few months as the Vitamin E oil acts as a natural preservative. To help prolong the life of this blend, either re-use a squeezable or pump-top bottle or use a clean spoon to apply it straight out of a glass jar, rather than putting your dirty fingers into the mix each time you use it.

Spray Hand Sanitizer

Ingredients:

1 Tablespoon Witch Hazel
2 Teaspoons 100% pure Aloe Vera Gel (you can also use vegetable glycerin)
8 drops of Vitamin E oil
Essential Oils (Lavender, Tea Tree, or try Lemon, Lime, Orange etc.)
Clean Water
Directions:

Combine together the witch hazel, aloe vera gel, Vitamin E oil, and essential oils.
Pour into a small spray bottle.
Add enough clean water to fill bottle.
Shake well
Storage:

For this recipe you will need a 4 oz (120 ml) glass spray bottle, or similar. It is best not to use plastic as it may react with the essential oils.

Orchids Bring Me Joy and Bliss

orchid

When I was in my home/house/spiritual sanctuary the yard and house was filled with plants and flowers; there are many things I miss about my house, but I think orchids are on the very top of that list.

I did manage to take two outdoor orchids with me on my “one the move” adventure…AND…they are both blooming now…I absolutely love it, so I now have a stem of about 20 blooms and another one with about 15 blooms. The pictures are exactly what my orchids look like and every time I look at them in my room, it warms my heart.

I have also studied and worked on feng shui; and I encouraged feng shui in my house and yard. It was fun and it did seem to bring balance and peace to my surroundings. One of the plants that is used a lot in feng shui is the orchid and I had many inside of my house as well as in the yard. Here is what is said about the orchid in a book about orchids and feng shui:

Orchid. This beautiful flower is considered a classical feng shui symbol of fertility. The orchid bringing the energy of an untainted natural symmetry, it has also become a symbol of a quest for perfection in any areas of one’s life. Abundance, perfection, spiritual growth, beauty and purity – with such powerful universal symbolism attached to it, no wonder orchids have become a very popular house plant in the West!

One of the stems of the orchids I have placed on the memory area I have designated for David and the items of his that I cherish and he cherished of mine. He has been gone now for almost a year and he is as close to me today as he always was/is…and he loves the orchids also…it is so nice we can still share things together, even if it is in spirit not in up close and personal…proof love never dies, it only gets stronger.

I encourage everyone to get an orchid, they are a thrill to have and they do bring love, peace and balance to your surroundings…

Much love and light

A Healthy Gut and More

magic

Here it is the 22nd of January and just now I am creating an energy space in writing something personal…from my AA birthday to after my belly button birthday which is in January it is always a review time in my life for me.  So here I am back at the keyboard on a personal level…I did get a few posts out and kept up pretty much with contacts here on the blog…2016 is the best year yet…giggles

I always like to review my health plan every six months or so, as i use food as medicine in my life and I like to pay close attention to how my current plan is working for me and see if I could make some adjustments…my attention was drawn to probiotics and so started my research on that area…

Before adding probiotics to your shopping list this is what I found out and why now I am eating sauerkraut every day…

Here is some info I found out…

2oz of non pasteurized sauerkraut has more probiotics than 100 probiotic capsules

4-6oz of sauerkraut has 10 trillion bacteria, which is a good thing

Homemade kraut is the best, however you can buy readymade if you are prudent in making sure it is organic and not heated…heating destroys the probiotics

Fresh artesian water should be used and sea salt…no vinegar or heat

I save the liquid and I like to drink it a little each day or so.

In my area, Southern California, I found Bubbies and it is in the refrigerated deli case

In The Gluten Summit, 2013, Dr. Natasha Campbell-McBride, MD, told Dr. Tom O’Bryan, ““With every mouthful of sauerkraut you’re consuming billions of beneficial microbes which will be killing the pathogens in your gut driving them out and replenishing the beneficial flora in your digestive tract.”

Cabbage is high in anti-inflammatory properties, vitamins A and C. Cabbage also reduces lipids in the bloodstream. When cabbage is fermented into sauerkraut the fermentation process opens up the cell walls accessing a higher ratio of vitamins. It has been said that sauerkraut has 200 times more vitamin C than the head of cabbage before fermentation.

I divide the kraut into 1-2oz servings and eat one a day, you can heat it then if you like, I like mine cold…the kraut comes in glass jars and should remain in glass containers, again to preserve the probiotic properties.

Just following these simple instructions I have noticed a reduction in body swelling and a general all over good feeling, I am very pleased with the results. My gut area has reduced some and my digestive system seems to be liking my new treat to it…giggles

I have finally made the complete switch to organic fruits and veggies; and grass fed for farm animal products, my budget required an ease in process and so that process is now complete.

I made a organic, gluten free pumpkin bread for my birthday present to me and it was/is delicious, a Christmas present to me was a toaster oven and I love, love it, so now in my spiritual space of 8×10 I have a rice cooker, electric fry pan and a toaster oven…can life get any better than this…I don’t think so….giggles

Have a wonderful new year…and keep in touch

Much love and light

PS:

AND…the most important part of my new year beginning is my a new addition to my spiritual life, I already meditate daily and have my spiritual declarations I make for you, all the world, Gaia and myself, this one I have added that I also now do daily…and twice on Sunday’s….giggles

“So if you like to clean your energy field, simply summon and visualize a beam of WHITE LIGHT from the highest point imaginable….descending down into your energy field which makes you LIGHTER and BRIGHTER. Go down from head to body to toes.

Then sit there about 10-15 minutes while feeling and watching the changes you experience. Once done, you may feel (I have always 100% of times) feel lighter and swifter in my energy field. Don’t take my words for it, do it and experience it yourself.”  Here’s to your clean energy field…yes!!!!

Household Tip and Tricks

sheets

Sheet sets in pillow cases
For storing your sheet sets neatly in a drawer or a linen closet you put them in one of the pillow cases and they will stack on top of each other, they will be all together and you can just grab and go to the bed they are intended for when it is time to change the sheets.

Dryer Balls
I love these as you don’t have to use fabric softener and/or softener sheets in your dryer. The commercial softeners are very toxic and have been found to be the cause of some crib deaths in infants. The softeners are also very hard on your clothes and linens. There are also woolen dryer balls, but I haven’t used them so I can’t give you a report on them. If you like a scent in your drying of your laundry you can put some essential oil on a dampened wash cloth in with your clothes.

I also like to use the dryer balls in my wash as it seems to get them cleaner…I use two balls in both the washer and the dryer.

Boost laundry soap with Borax
Here is another laundry suggestion…in the laundry section of the grocery store there is a product called Borax…20 Team Borax…picture below…I use about a half of cup in each load of wash and just about ¼ of the suggested amount of laundry soap. Borax sanitizes your wash and is a stain remover; it is great for really soiled washes and non toxic. In fact for moderately soiled loads you could just use the borax and the dryer balls.

Saving Glass bottles
I save all glass bottles, as storing food in plastic containers can transfer toxins into your food, also when you purchase foods the best quality foods are sold in glass so as not to contaminate the product. Also when the foods are stored in glass you can see what is in the container and they easy to label for the date etc.

Repurpose smoothie powder containers
Don’t throw out those protein and smoothie powder containers…you can’t see threw them, but they are perfect for pasta, rice, beans, and other items you buy in bulk and/or in plastic bags, I buy small computer address labels and label my jars and containers

It is always fun to get organized at the beginning of the each year…these are just a few fun and cost effective tips and ideas for your New Year…Have Fun!!!!!

This Video Might Change Your Life and Your Year

“Normal is getting dressed in clothes that you buy for work and driving through traffic in a car that you are still paying for – in order to get to the job you need to pay for the clothes and the car, and the house you leave vacant all day so you can afford to live in it.” ― Ellen Goodman

I recommend you take time to watch this short video and see if you can relate to it at all, and if so, make some changes where there needs to be some. It really relates to making changes in our new year and making our life and world a better place.

Seems I did things maybe backwards, seemed that many usual internet people and others took off from Christmas thru the New Year. I was present during the holidays and then took some days off after the New Year. I have revamped my wellness program and eating program and so that integration has taken extra time and I did carve some personal I love you time into that schedule…so…with that said…I am back…giggles.

So here we go full speed ahead into the fun of a new year…let’s make it the best one yet.
